Studies designed to evaluate programmes for the treatment of drug-dependency are of obvious interest and relevance at the present time. The development of a research protocol to deal with the most common methodological difficulties in this type of study is a priority, not only for researchers and professionals, but also for the administrations, institutions and services involved. It is with this objective that studies carried out in Spain up to the present time are reviewed, analysing the methodological problems most frequently encountered. Finally, some recommendations are made, with the aim of minimising the effects of the problems and increasing the internal and external validity of evaluations.
La realización de estudios de valoración de programas de tratamiento en drogodependencias es una tarea de evidente interés y oportunidad en estos momentos. El desarrollo de un protocolo de investigación que subsane las dificultades metodológicas más comunes en este tipo de trabajos es una prioridad, tanto para los investigadores y profesionales como para las administraciones, instituciones y servicios implicados. Con esta finalidad se pasa revista a las investigaciones españolas que se han realizado hasta la actualidad y se analizan las dificultades metodológicas más comunes. Por último, se dan una serie de recomendaciones que minimicen los efectos de los problemas e incrementen la validez tanto interna como externa de las evaluaciones que se realicen.
